January 26th 2019 is the next event to be held at the Western Springs venue, where we will see a couple of very important races.
One of those, and for the first time the F2 Midget competitors will be running the Western Springs Championship. The podium winners will receive the trophies for the first three place getters along with a prize pool of almost $5000.
2019 celebrates the classes 10th year anniversary having started out with approx. 7 cars. The class now boasts fields of almost 30 competitors with equipment to match.
“The aim of the F2 midget class is to provide an opportunity into open wheel midget car racing at an affordable level” said Bill Buckley – Director, “it is also the intention of this class to encourage competitors to develop their driving skills in an even field of cars and achieving results based on their skill rather than any significant advantage through operating with superior equipment”, he said.
The F2 Midget class has been retained as a ‘local class’ which has the competitors manage their own class rules and specs. Given this is a local class, this event scheduled on the 26th is their shot at being recognised by all as the 2018/2019 Champion.
The F2 Class will run heats, Semi Main and the Feature to establish the outright winner.
