We are now two weeks out from the first round of the Porter Hire International Sprintcar Series. This double barreled series, will also be remembered as our ‘Salute to Steve Kinser’, who is coming here to say goodbye to his fans.
“I have always had Western Springs Speedway on my bucket list, and soon I will be able to tick that one off”, said Steve. “Last year Craig came down there, and he loved the fans and the racing, he came back here and told me to get down there and see it for myself.”
Steve’s Sprintcar has left the US and is expected to arrive any day now. “We have sent everything we need and the car we are bringing is one that can win. We have checked and triple checked it, and we have plenty of spares to make sure we are ready for anything”, said Peter Murphy – Crew Chief, “Everyone on this trip has the expectation that we can win this”
This year we won’t select a NZ Team to take on the guys from the USA, instead, each night the top three local qualifiers will get the opportunity to run in the “Salute to the King – Dash” which will be a 10 lap race. Steve will be entered into the heats earlier on, so everyone gets to run with him.
The Series opens on Saturday 28th November, then to Palmerston North on December 1st, to then return to WXC Speedway – Western Springs on Saturday 5th December.
