This meeting at WXC Speedway – Western Springs has a new twist to it, in that whilst we celebrate the Sprintcars in this inaugural event, we also welcome the return of the Super Saloons to the venue.

This weekend has several parts to it for our Sprintcar competitors. It is Round 4 of the Champion of Champions Series held at both Bay park and Western Springs, it is also the Official Qualifier for the Knoxville Nationals and on top of all that, they are running in this all new Championship known as ‘Rolling Thunder’. The winner of the main event along with the car owner will receive a Championship Ring each, just like the Midget guys do for their 50 lapper.

“With a 1st place winners cheque for $5,000 and a total pool of $15,000 we expect to see a good number of drivers here to contest this title,” said Greg Mosen – Promoter.

Then we have the Super Saloons here for the first time in over 20 years, and the best guys and girls are coming. The drivers include current New Zealand Champion Steve Flynn, Ben Harding, Mark Osborne, Steve Williams, Chris Cowling and Craig Cardwell to name a few.

“It’s great to come back to Western Springs with these top drivers to put on the best show we possibly can,” said Grant Flynn – Organiser. “The drivers are really excited about this opportunity and everyone has gone out of their way to make this a success.”

The celebrity race in the Super Saloons will be a lot of fun too, with drivers like Emma Gilmour – Rally, Greg Murphy – V8 Supercar, Paul Radisich – V8 Supercar and Mad Mike – Drift. These drivers have never driven these Super Saloons, so it will be interesting to see who masters it first.
