Last night we lost one of speedways true legends, Bryan Clauson. Bryan has been a regular visitor to Western Springs over the last 6 years competing in the Midget International Series held at Christmas time. He was injured while competing in the Belleville Nationals midget race at Belleville High Banks in Kansas. He was airlifted to Bryan Medical Center following the accident however sadly while surrounded by family and friends, he passed away.
Bryan dominated the United Truck Parts Midget International Series here in New Zealand and always had the fans on their feet. He was due to race here at Western Springs in November in the Porter Hire International Sprintcar Series as well as the Midget Series in December.
We would like to send our deepest sympathies to Bryans family and his fiancé Lauren and also Brian and Annette Theobald, his New Zealand car owners and dear friends and also the Insley family.
The Clauson family wrote the following which sums up Bryan as not only a very talented driver but an all-round great guy:
Our Bryan fought to the end with the same desire that he demonstrated behind the wheel of all the various race cars he would park in victory lane. However, we were more proud of our Bryan that took a moment to make a young fans day, or demonstrated his uncommon kindness and appreciation toward his friends, family and fans.
Thank you for being part of Bryan’s life.
